Springbok Unveils Top Picks To Watch On Netflix

The temperatures in the Southern Hemisphere are slowly starting to drop and South Africa’s favorite online venue, Springbok, is getting ready for the change of seasons. As indoor activities become more popular during this time of the year, players are starting to look for new ways to spend quality time while taking a break between their preferred games. Luckily, casino manager, Daniel van Wyck has compiled a list of the most-watched TV shows on Netflix to help out all fellow members during cozy autumn/winter nights.

Whether you favor popcorn, chips or ice-cream, get ready for hours of action and excitement, as van Wyck’s short, but breathtaking reviews include top-ranking sci-fi, super hero movies and drama series. The entire list is available at the site, in case you need to take a closer look at details, cast or further synopsys.

Starting with Stranger Things, which is just about the coolest TV show you’ll ever see in your life, whose story follows the disappearance of a young boy in a fictional Indiana town from the 1980s, the list also includes Narcos, a true story of infamous Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. Suffice to say that Net Ent is currently developing a slot game based on the series. Similarly, a David Fincher thriller/crime drama, Mindhunter, is also among recommended content, as it revolves around a man who pioneered the science of profiling serial killers.

Still not amused? Wait until you see Marvel’s additions to the catalog such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Thor and other popular heroes. However, one of van Wyck’s top picks is certainly Star Trek Discovery, starring Sonequa Martin-Green from The Walking Dead as Michael Burnham, the rebellious first officer of the USS Shenzhou, sadly accused of mutiny after a mission goes awry. There are fifteen new episodes available, each almost one hour long.

Finally, there is also a special treat for all those players who need to take a break in the meantime, as 25 free spins on Realtime Gaming’s, Lucha Libre 2, are up for grabs the entire month or until May 31st to be precise. Start your weekend with extra rounds by using the coupon code, TVSHOW, and pick one of the most popular shows of 2017/2018 on Netflix as soon as possible. May the fun begin...

What Are the Groups for the 2018 FIFA World Cup?

A couple more months, and the FIFA World Cup 2018 will be here. Soccer fans are already excited, as this is the most prestigious international competition. Legends are born at World Cup finals, and the players know that, too.

The host of the FIFA World Cup final round in 2018 will be Russia. The choice of the country was a bit controversial, as there were rumors of corruption. However, there was no proof, so Russia is the place to watch this summer.

There will be 65 games in total, and 12 stadiums will be used during the World Cup. The largest among them is the legendary Luzhniki in the capital Moscow. It has a capacity of 81,000.

This is the reason why both the opening match and the final of the FIFA World Cup 2018 will be played there.

The first game will be played on June 14th, and the tournament will end on July 15th. This means that the fans will be able to watch the 65 games in less than a month before a world champion is crowned.

A total of 32 nations from all over the globe qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018 finals. They are divided into 8 preliminary groups. The best 2 teams from each group will reach the knockout stages. From there on, the team will play 4 more rounds until a winner is crowned.

In this post, I’m going to provide a quick rundown of the teams that make up each group. This is useful for any early bets you might be looking to make.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be providing more information on the 2018 World Cup, along with plenty of betting advice and recommended wagers.

Group A

Let’s take a closer look at the teams in group A.

Russia

The host nation is one of the favorites in this group and will certainly target at least the knockout stages.

The Russians don’t have enough quality to win the thing, but they could go deep in the tournament. The home advantage is huge in soccer and in World Cups in particular, so Russia should not be underestimated.

Uruguay

Uruguay is a rather small nation, but it has exceptional traditions when it comes to soccer. The country has won the World Cup and Copa America multiple times.

The current generation has a lot of potential with players like Luis Suarez. They are the second team that is considered as a favorite in this group.

Egypt

A quick look at the Egyptian team shows at least one reason why the country has a chance – Mo Salah. The Liverpool forward is among the best players in the world right now.

If he’s fit for the World Cup, you never know what might happen.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is the underdog, and no one expects them to even win a point. It’s only natural, as the core of the team consists of players from the local league.

At least there’s no pressure, which sometimes boosts the performance of certain countries.

Group B

Here’s what group B has to offer.

Spain

The golden generation of Spain is almost gone, and some of the guys won everything in soccer. However, their last World Cup in 2014 was a disaster. The current squad has both youth and experience, as well as tons of talent. If they peak during the competition, Spain could win it.

Portugal

The reigning European champions are a solid team with a potent attack. Everybody knows how good Cristiano Ronaldo is, but the defense is what won them Euro 2016.

Portugal could be lethal in the knockouts and is a team everyone else will prefer to avoid.

Morocco

Morocco relies mostly on its defense, and the squad doesn’t have any stars. However, all the players work hard and could surprise the two European favorites in the group.

Iran

The fact that Iran managed to qualify for the finals is a huge success. Everything else will be a bonus for the country, as it doesn’t have the players to expect more than a respectable exit after the group stage.

Group C

This is one of the most interesting groups, as there’s no real underdog.

France

The whole country was heartbroken when France lost the final of Euro 2016 at home against Portugal. However, the team is now even stronger and has some amazing players all around the pitch. France is considered as one of the favorites in the tournament.

Denmark

The Danish team doesn’t have many stars but still managed to qualify for the World Cup finals in Russia. The group is tricky, but Denmark certainly can qualify for the knockouts. The big question is if there will be enough firepower up front.

Peru

Peru managed to dramatically snatch a place in the finals. As with every nation from South America, the Peruvians have a lot of flair players in their ranks.

The defense is a bit leaky, though, and this will be the main weakness of the team.

Australia

Australia is a regular participant in World Cup finals, and this will be the case in Russia, too. The Kangaroos have their chances in this group despite the fact that many people can’t see them going through.

The problem for Australia is that they will play France first, and the European team will be eager to start with a win and ensure qualification before the last game.

Group D

Group D is another one with a lot of questions that only time can answer.

Argentina

The South American giant almost didn’t make it this time around, but you should never underestimate them. Argentina reached the finals in 2014 despite some shaky performances. On top of that, any soccer team that has Lionel Messi has a shot.

Croatia

The Croatians have some world-class players like Luka Modric and Mario Mandzukic. The whole team is pumped up, and I could even see them winning the group. At the same time, even one slip could be enough for Croatia to be eliminated.

Nigeria

The Super Eagles are an exciting team with some young stars like Kelechi Iheanacho. I think it’s a bit early to expect something special from the current generation, but the potential is there. If some of the other teams underestimate Nigeria, they will suffer.

Iceland

Iceland was one of the sensations during Euro 2016, and the fairy tales goes on. No one knows what to expect from the small country, but they’ve shown tremendous spirit and have some decent players. If Iceland manages to somehow qualify for the knockout phase, it’s game on.

Group E

Here are the teams in Group E.

Brazil

The most successful team in World Cup history stormed its way to the final by crushing the competition in the South American qualifiers. Brazil scored more than 40 goals in 18 games and is one of the favorites in Russia.

Switzerland

The squad of Switzerland consists of solid players from some of the top European leagues. There aren’t many big stars, but the average quality is high. The Swiss are usually tough to beat and have the potential to reach the knockout stages.

Serbia

Serbia is another side with the potential to reach the knockout stages. The country has some talented players like Kolarov, Matic, and Tadic. On top of that, the nation is known for its patriotism, and each member of the squad will be giving everything.

Costa Rica

After a sensational performance in the 2014 World Cup, it would be a big mistake to overlook Costa Rica. The country is not the most talented in the tournament but could actually sneak through the group stages.

Group F

The situation of Group F is as follows.

Germany

The reigning world champion, Germany, is among the favorites this time around as well. This is probably the most balanced side in the World Cup.

The Germans have top quality in pretty much each position. They will be looking to add another Jules Rimet Trophy and tie Brazil as the most successful nation in the history.

Mexico

Mexico is always a dangerous side when it comes to international soccer. The country has both talent and grit. You can always expect Mexico to reach the knockouts and be a tough nut to crack there. The situation is no different in 2018.

Sweden

It looked like Sweden would play in a big tournament without Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the first time in a while. However, it seems like the big man will come out of retirement to join the squad. He hasn’t had much success with Sweden so far, but you never know.

South Korea

South Korea is the big underdog, and the Asians are certainly unhappy with the draw. This is one of the toughest groups out there, but South Korea does have some decent players in the squad. I don’t expect them to make it to the knockouts, but they could snatch a draw or even a win.

Group G

This one looks like the one group with two very clear favorites.

Belgium

I don’t think that the Belgium national side was that talented in its history. They have the likes of Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku, and a number of other exceptional players from top European clubs. The question is if they can work as a team. It didn’t look like that in Euro 2016.

England

If Belgium did badly in Euro 2016, England’s performance was a complete catastrophe. It was one of the worst in the history of the country that invented soccer.

As always, England has a solid side, but the expectations of the media and the fans create unbelievable pressure. Let’s see if the players cope with it this time around.

Panama

This is the first World Cup final phase in Panama’s history. The nation managed to dramatically qualify at the expense of the USA, and this was a huge success. No one expects more from Panama, so they will be enjoying the tournament whatever happens.

Tunisia

The North African country is a bit of an enigma. There are no big stars, but the team is strong and relies on its defense. It seems as if Tunisia is destined to finish third in this group, and I think this will be the case at the end.

However, the country might actually reach the next stage if England implodes again.

Group H

And these are the teams in the final group, which seems wide open.

Colombia

After reaching the quarterfinals in 2014, Colombia has the ambition to improve its performance in the World Cup in Russia. The country has a lot of potential, and James Rodriguez looks at his best once again.

Colombia is the favorite in the group and should reach the knockouts, where everything is possible.

Japan

Japan is a regular participant in the World Cup finals but has rarely managed something more than that. The nation has a chance for the knockouts this year, but it will be very tough. Their main strength is their experienced backbone.

Poland

With a striker like Robert Lewandowski and a couple more top players, Poland is a dangerous team. They do have some weaknesses, though, and it’s hard to determine what will happen. The country has the potential to go deep, but it could also go home after the group stage.

Senegal

This is only the second time Senegal will play in the World Cup finals.

However, the first one saw the country stun France in the opening game and reach the quarterfinals in Japan and South Korea. While such a run seems unlikely this time around, Senegal has some decent players.

Final Words

While there are some early favorites, the World Cup is always unpredictable. Some teams will certainly impress, while others will disappoint in Russia this summer.

The best thing is that the tournament will be a feast of soccer games for a month and will also provide plenty of opportunities to make cash from betting.

Make sure to prepare, as June 15th will be here before you know it.

Killer Son of A Preacher Man

Killer Son of A Preacher Man
Killer Son of A Preacher Man

Why do PKs -- preachers' kids -- get into so much trouble?

That question might have been asked about John Wesley Hardin, a notorious outlaw, gunfighter and gambler who was born in Bonham, TX. in 1853. The exact number of people Hardin shot to death is not known, but some historical estimates put them at 47 or more.

Hardin even wrote an exaggerated book about his life while serving a 25-year prison term for murder. He cheerfully admitted to the killings and even added a few that probably didn't happen. After serving 17 years, he was released, pardoned and even passed the Texas State Bar exam and became a practicing attorney.

His father was a poor Methodist preacher and circuit rider who later became a school teacher. Hardin's parents named him after John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church.

While in prison, Hardin described his mother Mary as 'blond, highly cultured and charitable.' In 1959, the family moved Hardin and his nine brothers and sisters to Sumpter, TX. where his father found a job teaching school.

In 1862 at the age of nine, Hardin sympathized with the South and tried to run away from home to join the Confederate Army. Authorities found him and returned him to his home.

He and his siblings attended the school where their father taught. In 1967, Hardin had an argument with another student over school graffiti, a poem about a female student that someone had left on the chalkboard. The kids went after each other with pocket knives and Hardin stabbed the other student so severely that he nearly died. His father nearly expelled young Hardin from school over the incident.

At the age of 15, Hardin challenged a former slave named Major 'Maje' Holshousen to a wrestling match, which he won. The following day, Maje ambushed him and charged at him with a big stick as he rode past. Hardin controlled his rearing horse, drew a revolver and shot the man five times.

He rode to get help but the badly wounded man died three days later.

In his autobiography, Hardin wrote that his father didn't feel he would get justice in the Union-occupied state where a third of the state police were former slaves and he sent his son into hiding.

Authorities eventually discovered his hiding place and went there to arrest him. Hardin's older brother, Joseph, warned him they were coming and Hardin met them with a double-barreled shotgun and a cap and ball pistol, killing three of his pursuers.

The young outlaw mounted his horse and went on the run. He teamed up with a fellow outlaw named Frank Polk who was also wanted for murder. They were pursued by soldiers who eventually captured Polk, but Hardin managed to escape.

He fled to another town and found a job teaching school. However, his new position did not stop his outlaw ways. Hardin became involved in several other shooting scrapes, killing a soldier and a black man in disputes. He also shot another man in the eye when they fought over a bottle of whiskey.

Gambling played a major role in many of his shooting incidents. On Jan. 5, 1870, Hardin was playing cards with Ben Bradley and was beating him soundly at the game. Bradley grew visibly upset and drew a pistol and knife, threatening to cut out Hardin's liver if he won another hand.

Hardin threw up his hands, claimed he was unarmed and left the game with his winnings. Later that night after some heavy drinking, Bradley went looking for him. He spotted Hardin on the street, drew his gun and fired. He missed. Hardin was armed with two pistols and he didn't. One shot struck Bradley in the head, the other in his chest, killing the man instantly.

The shooting was witnessed by dozens of people and Hardin escaped being charged.

He joined a cattle drive that followed the Chisolm Trail into Kansas in the summer of 1871. The cowboys and their herd ran into another herd being driven by Mexican vaqueros. They got into a dispute and Hardin got into a gunfight with one of the Mexicans whom he wounded in the thigh with a malfunctioning cap and ball pistol.

The two groups drew up a temporary truce, but Hardin's hair-trigger temper wouldn't let the matter be settled. Hardin borrowed a gun from one of the other cowboys and went looking for the Mexican. He found him. More shots were fired and the vaquero was left dead on the trail.

After the cowboys delivered the herd, Hardin collected his pay and met Wild Bill Hickok in another cattle town. Hardin respected Hickok for his ability with a gun and they became friends. Once he even surrendered his guns to Hickok politely and with a smile.

In 1872, Hardin decided it was time he settled down. He married Jane Bowen, an attractive young woman whose brother was a cattle rustler. Shortly after they were wed, he was severely wounded by a shotgun blast while playing poker in the Gates Saloon in Trinity, TX.

After he recovered from his wounds, Hardin surrendered his guns to a sheriff in Cherokee, County, TX. and allowed himself to be jailed. But once behind bars, he discovered how many murders the sheriff intended to charge him with.

Hardin changed his mind. Using a smuggled hacksaw, he cut his way out of jail and fled from town on horseback.

The law finally caught up with Hardin in June 1878. At the age of 40, he was captured, tried and convicted of murder. The judge sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

He tried unsuccessfully to escape from prison several times. Eventually, he settled down to prison life and began reading books on theology and the law. He was even named superintendent of the Prison Sunday School.

On Feb. 17, 1894, after serving 17 years, Hardin was released from prison. He was given a pardon and he even passed the Texas Bar Exam, obtaining his license to practice law. His wife had died while he was in prison and he moved to El Paso, TX.

Hee married a 15-year-old girl named Callie Lewis. The marriage didn't last long and was never annulled.

One evening he was shooting dice in the Acme Saloon. Earlier in the day, he had had an altercation with the son of John Selman Sr., a former outlaw who was a constable in El Paso.

Selman came up behind Hardin and shot him in the back of the head, killing Hardin instantly. He told prosecutors that Hardin had reached for his gun and that he killed him in self-defense. His story was believed and he was not charged with killing the outlaw son of a preacher man.

2018 Kentucky Derby: Final Post Draw, Odds and Predictions

The hype train slows down at Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 5th. Horse racing experts and sports bettors alike have gone back and forth over who this year’s Kentucky Derby winner will be, but now everyone is about to find out.

Justify isn’t the obvious favorite bettors are used to seeing, but the top Kentucky Derby betting sites still like him to finish first ahead of the pack. That pack is finally official, too, with the post draw being announced earlier this week and all 20 horses being accounted for.

Here’s how all 20 horses will come firing out of the gates on May 5th:

Firenze Fire Free Drop Billy Promises Fulfilled Flameaway Audible Good Magic Justify Lone Sailor Hofburg My Boy Jack Bolt d’Oro Enticed Bravazo Mendelssohn Instilled Regard Magnum Moon Solomini Vino Rosso Noble Indy Combatant

It feels like a waste of time to sort through Kentucky Derby history just to see how horses fared coming out of different spots.

Single-digit and double-digit post draws are almost dead even (13 to 14) over the last 27 years, and outside of the 5-spot having a good amount of success (10 wins), where the winner comes from feels random.

Over the last 13 years, a winner has come out of the same spot (5) just once.

A pretty strong argument can be made that it’s far more about the horse and the jockey than the hole they come out of, but it’s good to gather all the information you can.

The Washington Post recently did a pretty good job detailing the Kentucky Derby post draw history.

There is data there to support pretty much any post draw, but the one that feels like a lock to ignore might be #17 (no wins in Kentucky Derby history). Then again, perhaps it’s Solomini’s time to shine as even more KD history is made.

All odds that are referenced in this article were available online on 5/3/2018. These odds may have changed since the time of this writing.
Latest 2018 Kentucky Derby Odds

Much more important than where the horses start out of the gates is how the top horse racing betting sites view them.

The odds tend to shape the picture for everyone, whether it be the top favorites to target with heavy bets, some interesting sleepers to confide in, or some Kentucky Derby longshots that could actually shock the world.

If Justify is the horse to beat, it certainly doesn’t feel like Vegas (or anyone else) is all that confident. Just take a look at the wide-open field this year based on the latest Kentucky Derby odds available online.

Justify+350
Mendelssohn+400
Audible+650
Magnum Moon+750
Good Magic+800
Bolt d’Oro+850
Vino Rosso+1200
Hofburg+1500

Flameaway+4500
Lone Sailor+5000
Promises Fulfilled+5000
Bravazo+6000
Instilled Regard+6000
Firenze Fire+6600
Combatant+6600

Even weirder is how the odds can differ depending on which horse racing betting sites you wager at, as well as how quickly the odds can change.

They already moved after the post draw earlier this week, with Firenze Fire climbing from a hefty +10000 to +6600. That may be less about Vegas liking Firenze Fire and more about this field being quite competitive.

That, or it’s another small sign that Justify simply isn’t the clear-cut favorite everyone wants him to be.

VISIT SITE
The Top Favorite – Justify (+350)

Whether Justify really is the top favorite he’s being sold as or not, this is the horse just about all of the Kentucky Derby betting sites out there are vouching for.

That obviously does not mean Justify is a lock to win, but if you want to take a relatively safe shot and go with the horse a lot of the experts and top gambling gurus are rolling with, that’d be the pick.

Justify has a lot going for him, too. The Bob Baffert colt is inexperienced with just three races behind him, but he has yet to lose, and he won the competitive Santa Anita Derby in convincing fashion.

There is definitely enough here to make Justify a logical favorite.

The only problem is that he does have some pretty stiff competition around him. If he does win, I wouldn’t be shocked if it was pretty close in the end.

The Top Challenger – Audible (+650)

Depending on who you talk to, the top challenger to Justify could also easily be Mendelssohn or Magnum Moon. The latter is undefeated, and the former has had some pretty big wins.

However, Mendelssohn has also been a bit erratic, and Magnum Moon has the same problem Justify does – he lacks experience.

Audible only has one more race under his belt, but he’s been just as dominant and is coming off a big win at the Florida Derby. With another impressive win at the Holy Bull, this feels like a very real threat at a competitive price.

A lot of horse racing experts will go back and forth between the first few horses when you look at odds, but Audible gives a nice discount and is likely to be in the thick of things this Saturday.

The Top Sleeper – Bolt d’Oro (+850)

Normally I’d say true Kentucky Derby sleepers start out around +1000 odds, but I just can’t leave Bolt d’Oro out. This has been one of my favorite horses throughout the entire process, and he’s also been lumped in with the top contenders on the back end.

Most horse racing experts deem d’Oro as a threat but don’t seem too willing to hop on board fully.

I don’t see a reason for restraint, as Bolt d’Oro has proven he has the talent, experience and past production to be taken seriously as a winner in the first leg of the Triple Crown.

This is a highly-competitive horse that has yet to finish worse than 3rd across six races, has four wins under his belt, and has fared well in big events like the Santa Anita Derby, San Felipe Stakes, the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, and the 2017 FrontRunner Stakes.

The biggest takeaway has to be d’Oro’s April run in the Santa Anita Derby, where only Justify bested him. That still doesn’t show us this horse is going to get past the main favorite this year, but I do think it gives him a real shot.

On top of that, d’Oro also took down one of the previous favorites (McKinzie) at the San Felipe Stakes and has had solid runnings against quality sleepers like Good Magic, Solomini, and others.

Putting Bolt d’Oro over the top is the fact that he’ll be ridden by elite jockey Victor Espinoza. Espinoza brings championship experience (three-time KD winner) to a very battle-tested colt.

I love the upside here in terms of betting, and I’m not seeing any better value than the +850 price.

If you want a little more upside, I also really like Todd Pletcher’s underrated Vino Rosso (+1200).

The Best Longshot – Instilled Regard (+6600)

I feel like if you’re looking for a worthwhile Kentucky Derby longshot this year, most horse racing experts aren’t stretching their neck very far.

Vino Rosso, Hofburg, and My Boy Jack are popular plays in that regard, while none of them offer better than +1800 odds.

To me, that’s not rich enough to be deemed a true longshot.

I’m looking at prices around +3300 or far greater. Granted, a horse winning beyond that range feels like a stretch, but in such a wide-open field, it’s a Kentucky Derby betting strategy you may want to consider.

There are a few options to look at, but one of my favorite longshots is Instilled Regard. There are other horses that offer superior resumes, have won bigger races, offer better odds, or feel like safer wagers.

You’re looking for an elite longshot that could actually deliver, though, so safety goes out the window, and you can’t let any individual piece of information hold you back.

The main draw here is that Instilled Regard is a fighter and is built to hang with high-level competition. Experience is an asset, too, and Instilled Regard has run seven times with no finishes worse than 4th.

That’s not amazing on its own, but Instilled Regard does have two wins under his belt and his worst two runs came at the Santa Anita Derby (Justify won) and the Risen Star. These are not easy races, yet Instilled Regard was still in the pack up front.

The lack of high-level success (showing or winning) is what is going to keep the scent off of Instilled Regard, but if he can hang up front and make a late push, he could have the makings of a wild upset.

Who Will Win the 2018 Kentucky Derby?

Justify is your top favorite, but you truly could make a case for a good portion of this 20-horse field. There are some plodders here, some endurance horses, and some flat-out speedsters.

There are also a few newbies that just don’t have the experience you can trust, and Justify is part of that group. This could very well be the most talented horse this year, but I don’t love the experience, and Justify has history working against him.

It’s funny that you’re still getting really awesome value with the would-be obvious favorite, so a bet on Justify does make quite a bit of sense at +350.

For me, it’s been Bolt d’Oro throughout the Kentucky Derby season, and that’s going to remain my pick.

You can vouch for Mendelssohn, Audible, Good Magic, Magnum Moon, and so many others. They all have valid arguments, and there are even a few sleepers and longshots to toss in as flier bets.

Bolt d’Oro keeps sucking me in as the best package deal. In terms of jockey experience, running experience, speed, overall talent, production, and odds, this is my favorite horse of the pack.

If you don’t buy Bolt d’Oro to flat-out win, I can’t blame you. There are at least five other horses with extremely sound arguments. I do think this horse deserves a bet to place or show, though.

Most Kentucky Derby betting sites will point to Justify and some of the other top contenders, but I’m looking for a little more value this year. I’m taking Bolt d’Oro to win a tight one.
